SENIOR REPRESENTATIVES FROM THE PANAMA MARITIME AUTHORITY PAID A VISIT TO THE INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER OF SHIPPING
Panama, August 1st.
Mr. Agustín Moreno, Deputy Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority and Mr. Fernando Solórzano, General Director of the Merchant Marine, senior representatives from the Panama Maritime Authority paid a courtesy visit to Mr. John Murray, Director Marine of the International Chamber of Shipping, in London (England).
In connection with the creation in Panama of the “Consular Transparency Committee”, an audit to the Panamanian Consulates has been stipulated. This Committee aims to inject more dynamism and transparency to the services provided by Panamanian consulates abroad. It also aims to supervise the revenue generated by those consulates.
As part of this working tour, several entities were visited in London, such as the Embassy, the General Consulate, Panama’s Permanent Mission before the IMO, the Regional Office of Documentation (Seafarers) and the Panamanian law firms operating in the United Kingdom.
During the meetings, the PMA’s senior representatives are informing and explaining to all the sectors that are connected to the maritime activities, what this “Consular Transparency Committee” involves and the goals pursued by the Government with its creation.
