THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WILL SUPPORT THE PANAMA MARITIME AUTHORITY IN THE DEVELOPPING OF A NATIONAL LOGISTICS PLAN

The Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama will support the Panama Maritime Authority (PMA) with its projection of developing a national logistics plan, which envisages the creation of a National Secretariat of Logistics.
Mr. José Luis Ford, president of the Chamber of Commerce, stated this after the ending of a meeting with a Commission sent by the Panama Maritime Authority. This commission aimed to outline the purpose of the National Secretariat of Logistics, which is, positioning Panama as the most important Logistic Hub of the Continent.
It came to Mr. Carlos Ernesto González de la Lastra to explain the goals, faculties and duties of the future National Secretariat of Logistics. It will be accountable for the creation of a National Law on Logistics, which will allow the development of the National Logistics Plan.
To the Panama Maritime Authority, the Chamber of Commerce made available members of its Legal and Logistics Committees, so that they, in subsequent meetings, can make their contributions to this project.
Also attended this meeting, on behalf of the Panama Maritime Authority, Mrs. Rachel Gicela Kinkead, Mrs. Migdalia Jaén, and Mr. José Miguel Rovira; and representing the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Mr. Héctor López.
