The administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority, Mr. Jorge Barakat Pitty inaugurated Panama’s stand at the fifth edition of the maritime fair Sea Asia. This fair takes place every other year; some 30 countries attend it.

This year, Singapur expects to attract more than 14 000 visitors to this fair. Among the participants, there are representatives from different governments, CEOs, chairmen, professionals and connoisseurs of the world maritime industry and trade. They all gather in this maritime exhibition that takes place from April 20 to 23. 

Panama’s stand comprised the Panama Maritime Authority, the Panama Canal Authority and the Trade and Industry Ministry. Several significant executives from the Panamanian maritime cluster took advantage of this exhibition to introduce their services.

Mr. Fernando Solórzano, Director General of the Merchant Marine, Mr. José Luis Aizpurúa, Director General of the Seafarers’ Directorate and Mr.  Gerardo Varela. Director General of the Directorate of Ports and Maritime Ancillary Industries attended the opening ceremony of the stand. Mr. Jorge Luis Quijano, Administrator of the Panama Canal Authority, Mr. Lui Tuck Yew, Singapore’s Prime Minister of Transport and Mr.  David Ching from the Singapore Maritime Foundation also attended this event. Ms. Luz de Spiegel, the wife of Panama’s Ambassador to Singapore, wore Panama’s national dress at the opening ceremony.

Sea Asia 2015 stands out with the latest news, the analysis and perspectives of the most relevant maritime markets worldwide. It also gathers the most influential and respectable leaders of the maritime industry.
