Mr. Jorge Barakat Pitty, administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority (PMA), was visited by the first delegation of international investors, which is interested in being part of the project to revive Puerto Armuelles and in creating a an intermodal dry canal.
These projects are driven by the subscribing to a technical cooperation agreement between the PMA and the CAF-Development Bank of Latin America, in order to finance a technical study. The projects have already raised interest of international entrepreneurs, such as of the Chinese company: Haojun Shanghai Investment & Management Co., Ltd.
The business mission, led by the president of the company, Mr. Wang Zhen, showed its unyielding determination and its desire to be participants of the project. Such project will enable the construction of an intermodal dry canal between Puerto Armuelles, in the Pacific coast, and a supplementary port on the Atlantic coast; as well as the creation of a long-term business model for Puerto Armuelles.
