ISO 9001: 2008
In order to improve its services, as well as its internal organization, the Panama Maritime Authority (PMA) is preparing to obtain recertification under the model of quality management ISO 9001: 2008.
To do this, the Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority, Mr. Jorge Barakat Pitty, and representatives of each Directorate General and of the different operational units of entity attended the course on the topic “the internal auditor under ISO 9001: 2008”. The course was delivered by Mr. Eladio Peñaloza.
Mr. Barakat Pitty emphasized the fact that this entity is based on a transparent management, that seeks a continuous improvement of the services it offers. The senior management must be aware of how the assessment is conducted and the means of effectively implementing the provisions of a quality policy.
The instructor, Mr. Peñaloza said that this course provides the skills needed to inform and to assess compliance and effective implementation of the processes. It also contributes to the continuous improvement of a quality management system according to ISO 9001: 2008.
Mr. Peñaloza concluded the training by underlining how important it is that an organization sets new ranges of targets. Aiming high helps the human capital to prepare and keep up with the requirements of the market, which consequently leads to an improvement in the quality of services offered. Ultimately, this positively affects customer satisfaction and assures successful management.
