THE PANAMA MARITIME AUTHORITY PARTICIPATED IN A WORKSHOP THAT TOOK PLACE IN BERLIN (GERMANY) ON THE TOPIC MLC 2006”

Mrs. Rosa María Aguirre, deputy chief of the department that deals with labor issues in the general directorate of seafarers, of the Panama Maritime Authority participated in a workshop, which focused on themes regarding the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006). The European Commission sponsored this event, which took place in Berlin, Germany, on June 22 and 23 2015. This workshop sought to analyze the implementation in the signatory countries of the Maritime Labour Convention. The workshop participants split into three groups of interest: the maritime administrations, the shipping companies, the seafarers and their representatives.

After holding her commitment in Berlin, Ms. Aguirre headed to Bergen (Norway), intending to participate the 13th International Symposium on Maritime Health, which the International Maritime Health Association organizes. In this symposium, Ms. Aguirre showed a promotional video that the Public Relations Office of the Maritime Authority of Panama produced especially for this event.

This video was an invitation to those who were present, to participate in a workshop to be held in Panama next year. The video aimed to promote Panama as a Flag State with high standards of security, for the sake of those seafarers’ health that work in ships registered in the Panamanian Registry.
