BY MEANS OF A VIDEOCONFERENCE, THE ADMINISTRATOR OF THE PANAMA MARITIME AUTHORITY PARTICIPATED IN IBEROAMERICAN COURSE.
Mr. Jorge Barakat Pitty, administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority was chosen as an international speaker at the “XV edition of the Iberoamerican course on Technology, Operation and environmental resource management in the ports”. In a joint effort, the public agency “Puertos del Estado,” the Inter-American Committee on Ports of the Organization of American States and the Port Authority of Santander (Spain) organized this course.
Mr. Barakat Pitty spoke about the topic: “Panama’s port system: technological and environmental perspective.” During his speech, the administrator underlined the progress reached by Panama regarding its port system. He also stressed the expansion plans regarding the logistics industry, based on the Panama Canal Expansion. Mr. Barakat’s speech captured the attention of the students.
Among the key points in his speech, Mr. Barakat stressed the improved relationships between the port maritime industry and the maritime enterprises. Furthermore, he advocated for Panama as a logistic platform of maritime transport and trade.
This course aims to meet the demands of a highly educated workforce. It provides solid technical training, specialized and updated in the area of port engineering, port operations, environmental management and port safety, by means of state-of-the-art methods and techniques in these fields.
