The Panama Maritime Authority (PMA), host of the Intermediate Conference of the International Association of Ports and Marinas, better known as (IAPH), has inaugurated this international event, which shall run until next Friday.

With the traditional ribbon cutting, the director general of Ports and Auxiliary Maritime Industries, Gerardo Varela, accompanied by the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Jorge Barakat Pitty, Secretary General of IAPH, Susumu Naruse, and senior officials of the maritime area, officially opened IAPH this year, as an event in which representatives of the maritime and port sector both nationally and internationally , shall attend to share mutual experiences as to how they are adapting port terminals for the future inauguration of the Canal’s expansion.

As part of the inauguration of IAPH 2016, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between, the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Jorge Barakat Pitty, and the director general of the International Port of Trade of Baku, the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan, Ziyadov Taleh was created by which both authorities, aware of mutual benefits in promoting and encouraging technical progress of two nations focused on the maritime port sector,  rubricate a commitment to cooperate in areas of benefit to both entities and nations.

Recognizing the need to implement programs that encourage the development of both parties and deepen the relationship related to port operations and logistics areas. It is proposed with this memorandum the establishment of a collaborative and joint action framework to develop opportunities around ports and its management, as well as the implementation and development in the logistics framework.

Similarly, this agreement includes the training of their respective human resources employees, and the exchange of information and experiences.
