AMP EXPLORA OPORTUNIDADES DE COOPERACIÓN ACADÉMICA PARA BENEFICIO DE LA GENTE DE MAR
La Autoridad Marítima de Panamá (AMP) explora oportunidades de cooperación académica, potenciando la transferencia de conocimientos en los sectores marítimo, logístico y portuario, y fortaleciendo las relaciones con instituciones educativas, tanto nacionales como internacionales.
Estas alianzas buscan impulsar el desarrollo de la fuerza laboral panameña para que esté preparada para enfrentar los desafíos de una industria en constante evolución, reforzando así el liderazgo de Panamá en el ámbito marítimo global.
Recientemente personal de la Dirección General de la Gente de Mar (DGGM) recibió a la delegación de JiangSu Shipping College Group (JSC, por sus siglas en inglés) de la República Popular China, con quienes abordó entre otros temas: oportunidades de becas para panameños, intercambio de personal y estudiantes, convenios, capacitaciones, formaciones y el desarrollo de normativas internacionales en cooperación.
La representación del país asiático expresó su deseo de ser, en el futuro, un Centro de Formación Marítima (CFM) reconocido por esta administración, motivo por el cual se les informó acerca de los requisitos y procesos que se evalúan para tal fin.
Igualmente se propuso que la DGGM sea el puente de coordinación para relacionar al JSC con los diversos CFM y las universidades marítimas de nuestro país: Columbus University y la Universidad Marítima Internacional de Panamá (UMIP), lo que conllevaría a importantes oportunidades educativas para los estudiantes y para el cuerpo docente panameño.
La delegación del JSC fue recibida por el Subjefe del Departamento de Titulación, Roberto Rodríguez Paredes, quien estuvo acompañado del Subjefe del Departamento de Formación Marítima, Rubén García y personal técnico esta importante dirección.
La provincia de Jiangsu, situada al este de China, ha dado prioridad a la cooperación entre universidades e industrias, con el objetivo de impulsar un progreso coordinado y abierto en tecnología y economía, a nivel nacional como internacional.
La República Popular China es uno de los clientes destacados de Panamá en el abanderamiento de naves, ya que representa alrededor de un 15 % de toda la flota mercante del país, con un total de 1,288 buques registrados, lo que demuestra la importancia económica de su mercado para la economía panameña.

The Panama Maritime Authority (PMA) is exploring opportunities for academic cooperation, enhancing knowledge transfer in the maritime, logistics, and port sectors, and strengthening relationships with educational institutions, both national and international.
These partnerships aim to boost the development of Panama’s workforce, preparing it to face the challenges of an ever-evolving industry, thereby reinforcing Panama’s leadership in the global maritime sphere.
Recently, staff from the Directorate General of Seafarers (DGGM) welcomed a delegation from JiangSu Shipping College Group (JSC) of the People’s Republic of China. Among the topics discussed were scholarship opportunities for Panamanians, staff and student exchanges, agreements, training programs, and the development of international regulatory cooperation.
The Chinese delegation expressed their desire to become a Maritime Training Center (CFM) recognized by this administration in the future. In response, they were informed about the requirements and processes needed to achieve such recognition.
It was also proposed that the DGGM act as a coordinating bridge to connect JSC with various CFMs and Panama’s maritime universities: Columbus University and the International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP), which would lead to significant educational opportunities for Panamanian students and faculty.
The JSC delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Chief of the Certification Department, Roberto Rodríguez Paredes, accompanied by the Deputy Chief of the Maritime Training Department, Rubén García, and technical staff from this important directorate.
Jiangsu Province, located in eastern China, has prioritized cooperation between universities and industries, aiming to promote coordinated and open progress in technology and the economy, both nationally and internationally.
The People’s Republic of China is one of Panama’s key clients for ship registration, representing approximately 15% of the country’s merchant fleet, with a total of 1,288 vessels registered, highlighting the economic significance of this market for Panama’s economy.
