AMP REALIZA CENSO DE EMBARCACIONES EN ISLA COLÓN
La Autoridad Marítima de Panamá (AMP) llevó a cabo un censo de las embarcaciones ancladas en Isla Colón, provincia de Bocas del Toro, con el objetivo de identificar a sus propietarios y verificar que la documentación esté en regla.
Durante la recopilación de datos, se encontraron cinco veleros abandonados. Los colaboradores de la oficina regional de la entidad efectuaron una inspección minuciosa a estos navíos para evaluar su estado y asegurarse que no representan un peligro para la biodiversidad marina.
“La revisión se realiza luego de que, en días pasados, se hundiera un velero en el archipiélago de Bocas del Toro, sin que nadie se hiciera responsable”, informó Jorge Chin, coordinador regional de la AMP, en Bocas del Toro.
El operativa se extenderá por cuatro días y cualquier irregularidad detectada será remitida al departamento legal de la AMP para su análisis y para que se tomen las acciones correspondientes.
La institución planea continuar con este tipo de acciones en otros puertos de la provincia para determinar si existen más navíos en condiciones similares.
AMP CONDUCTS A SURVEY OF VESSELS IN ISLA COLÓN
The Panama Maritime Authority (PMA) carried out a survey of vessels anchored in Isla Colón, in the province of Bocas del Toro, with the goal of identifying their owners and ensuring that the documentation is in order.
During the data collection, five abandoned sailboats were found. The staff from the regional office of the entity conducted a thorough inspection of these vessels to assess their condition and ensure that they do not pose a threat to marine biodiversity.
“The inspection was carried out after a sailboat sank in the Bocas del Toro archipelago recently, with no one taking responsibility,” reported Jorge Chin, regional coordinator of PMA in Bocas del Toro.
The operation will last four days, and any irregularities detected will be forwarded to the PMA’s legal department for analysis and for the necessary actions to be taken.
The institution plans to continue this type of action in other ports of the province to determine if there are more vessels in similar conditions.
