Un conversatorio informativo sobre las reformas a la Caja de Seguro Social (CSS), se realizó en la Autoridad Marítima de Panamá (AMP). El economista Francisco Bustamante expuso la propuesta y la Ministra de Desarrollo Social (MIDES), Beatriz Carles de Arango también estuvo presente en el foro.
El administrador de la AMP, Luis Roquebert, agradeció a todo el personal por participar de la convocatoria, para compenetrarse con un tema de interés nacional. “Si uno no comunica lo bueno que está haciendo, no puede llegar a la meta” expresó Roquebert al manifestar que el tema de la CSS no solo impacta a los colaboradores, sino a todas las familias panameñas. “Sabemos que la institución es un pilar del sistema de salud, pero también enfrentamos una crisis que exige soluciones inmediatas y sobre todo del compromiso de todos los ciudadanos”.
El Gobierno heredado por el presidente José Raúl Mulino ha asumido el compromiso de transformar la Caja de Seguro Social, a través de una reforma que incluye entre otros aspectos: Telemedicina, para conectar pacientes en zonas remotas con especialistas; expedientes médicos digitales, que agilizarán la atención y reducirán la burocracia; además de un sistema eficiente de citas, que disminuirá los tiempos de espera, concluyó Roquebert.
El Administrador destacó su complacencia por la sesión, al ser la primera actividad pública que se efectúa en el salón de actos de las nuevas instalaciones de la AMP.
Por su parte Bustamante expresó que las reformas a la CSS deben ser difundidas para que el pueblo tenga el conocimiento y pueda sentir a la entidad como propia y estar orgullosos de sus logros, cambiando un sistema obsoleto por uno más digno y accesible para todos.
The Panama Maritime Authority (PMA) held an informative forum on the proposed reforms to the Social Security Fund (CSS). Economist Francisco Bustamante presented the reform proposal, and Minister of Social Development (MIDES), Beatriz Carles de Arango, also participated in the discussion.
Luis Roquebert, Administrator of the PMA, expressed gratitude to the staff for their active participation in addressing this critical national issue. “If we don’t communicate the good we’re doing, we cannot achieve our goals,” said Roquebert, emphasizing that the reforms to the CSS impact not just employees but all Panamanian families. “We recognize that this institution is a cornerstone of our healthcare system, but it is also in crisis, requiring immediate solutions and, above all, the commitment of every citizen.”
Roquebert outlined the government’s pledge, under President José Raúl Mulino, to transform the CSS through comprehensive reforms. These include the introduction of telemedicine to connect patients in remote areas with specialists, digital medical records to streamline care and reduce bureaucracy, and an efficient appointment scheduling system to minimize waiting times.
He also expressed satisfaction that this event marked the first public activity held in the newly inaugurated auditorium of the PMA headquarters.
Economist Francisco Bustamante stressed the importance of disseminating information about the reforms to ensure the public understands and embraces the CSS as their own. “Panamanians should feel proud of its achievements, as we replace an outdated system with one that is more dignified and accessible for everyone,” he said.
This forum highlights the PMA’s dedication to fostering dialogue and awareness on matters of national importance, aligning with the collective effort to build a more sustainable and inclusive social security system for Panama.
