La Autoridad Marítima de Panamá (AMP) continúa apoyando a la gente de mar panameña mediante colaboración internacional. Se realizó un encuentro con destacados representantes del sector marítimo con el objetivo de fortalecer los lazos de amistad e intercambiar propuestas para promover oportunidades laborales y académicas para oficiales, cadetes y personal subalterno panameño.
El Gerente de NAVESCO S.A., Guillermo Solano Varela, se reunió con la directora de la Dirección General de la Gente de Mar (DGGM), Maryluz Castillo y el subdirector, Felipe Arias. También estuvo presente Mayte Burgos, jefa del Departamento de Asuntos Laborales Marítimos. En este encuentro, se conversó sobre la intención de NAVESCO S.A., de continuar incorporando personal panameño a su flota.
Otra reunión relevante fue con Wen Huabing, presidente del Jiangsu Maritime Institute de la República Popular de China, quien también visitó la DGGM. Durante su estancia se abordaron iniciativas orientadas a promover la formación y capacitación de los profesionales panameños, en línea con las crecientes demandas de la industria marítima global.
“La AMP reafirma su compromiso de promover el embarque de marinos panameños, destacando su profesionalismo, alta capacitación y competitividad, así como su capacidad para mantenerse a la vanguardia de las exigencias tecnológicas. Estas cualidades garantizan un transporte marítimo seguro y confiable”, expresó Maryluz Castillo, directora de la DGGM.
Por su parte, Felipe Arias, subdirector de la DGGM, subrayó que estas alianzas estratégicas reflejan el firme compromiso de la presente Administración con el bienestar y el desarrollo de su gente de mar, al impulsar su crecimiento profesional.
Arias, junto al jefe del Departamento de Formación Marítima, Rubén García, estuvieron presentes en la reunión con la delegación de Jiangsu Maritime Institute, en la cual se intercambiaron ideas sobre esta iniciativa que abrirá nuevas puertas en términos de programas educativos y empleo para la gente de mar panameña.

During this meeting, NAVESCO S.A. reaffirmed its commitment to integrating Panamanian talent into its fleet.
Equally significant was a visit from Wen Huabing, President of the Jiangsu Maritime Institute in the People’s Republic of China, who engaged with DGGM leadership to discuss initiatives focused on advancing the training and education of Panamanian maritime professionals. These efforts are designed to align with the evolving demands of the global maritime industry.

Deputy Director Felipe Arias underscored the significance of these strategic alliances, noting that they reflect the administration’s commitment to fostering the professional growth and welfare of Panama’s maritime workforce.
Arias, along with Rubén García, Head of the Maritime Training Department, participated in the meeting with the Jiangsu Maritime Institute delegation. The discussions centered on developing initiatives that will open new pathways for educational programs and employment, further empowering Panamanian seafarers to thrive in the global maritime industry.
