La Autoridad Marítima de Panamá (AMP), como ente rector del Registro de Buques de Panamá, comunica que está al tanto del incidente que afectó a una nave que porta la bandera nacional.
El 1 de octubre de 2024, a las 7:24 a.m. (hora local), el buque tanquero Cordelia Moon fue atacado en el Mar Rojo por un esquife no tripulado, lo que provocó una rotura en el casco. Este ataque ha sido atribuido al movimiento rebelde Houthi.
A bordo de la embarcación se encontraban 24 tripulantes, quienes se encuentran a salvo y no se reportan heridos. El buque se dirige a puerto para una evaluación inicial.
La AMP monitorea el incidente a través de las oficinas correspondientes. Además, brinda pleno respaldo a las autoridades que investigan el hecho y a los propietarios de la nave.
El Registro de Buques de Panamá recomienda a su flota mercante seguir las recomendaciones establecidas en el Aviso de Marina Mercante MMN 08/2023, que aconseja extremar medidas de seguridad al navegar por el Medio Oriente.

The Panama Maritime Authority (PMA), as the governing body of the Panama Ship Registry, reports that it is aware of an incident involving a vessel flying the national flag.
On October 1, 2024, at 7:24 a.m. (local time), the tanker Cordelia Moon was attacked in the Red Sea by an unmanned skiff, resulting in a breach of the hull. This attack has been attributed to the Houthi rebel movement.
There were 24 crew members on board, all of whom are safe, with no injuries reported. The ship is en route to port for an initial assessment.
The PMA is monitoring the incident through the appropriate offices and is providing full support to the authorities investigating the matter, as well as to the vessel’s owners.
The Panama Ship Registry advises its merchant fleet to follow the recommendations outlined in Merchant Marine Notice MMN 08/2023, which recommends heightened security measures when navigating the Middle East.
