Ante estos hechos, la Autoridad Marítima de Panamá ha activado los protocolos correspondientes para recabar información oficial sobre lo sucedido y mantiene comunicación con las partes involucradas y las autoridades competentes, con el fin de verificar los detalles del incidente y conocer el estado de la tripulación. Se informó que afortunadamente la nave logró continuar su curso.

Panamá, como Estado de Abanderamiento responsable, lamenta profundamente la pérdida de vidas humanas y expresa sus condolencias a los familiares del tripulante fallecido, así como sus deseos de pronta recuperación a los marinos heridos.

Se recomienda a todos los buques de la bandera a que tomen todas las medidas de seguridad necesarias y de ser posible eviten transitar por aguas ucranianas y rusas en el Mar Negro y el Mar de Azov.

La AMP reitera su compromiso con la seguridad de la vida humana en el mar, la protección de la navegación internacional y el cumplimiento de los instrumentos marítimos internacionales aplicables.

The Panama Maritime Authority (PMA), through the General Directorate of Merchant Marine, reports that it has knowledge of an incident that occurred on June 18, 2026, in the Black Sea, in which a Panamanian-flagged vessel was affected during a drone attack in the area.

According to preliminary available information, the incident resulted in the death of one crew member and injuries to two other seafarers aboard the vessel, one of them in serious condition.

In light of these events, the Panama Maritime Authority has activated the corresponding protocols to gather official information about what happened and is maintaining communication with the parties involved and the competent authorities, in order to verify the details of the incident and ascertain the condition of the crew. It was reported that, fortunately, the vessel was able to continue its voyage.

Panama, as a responsible Flag State, deeply regrets the loss of human life and extends its condolences to the family members of the deceased crew member, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured seafarers.

All vessels under the Panamanian flag are advised to take all necessary security measures and, if possible, avoid transiting Ukrainian and Russian waters in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

The PMA reiterates its commitment to the safety of human life at sea, the protection of international navigation, and compliance with applicable international maritime instruments.
