El Consulado General de Panamá en Kobe y la Oficina Técnica de SEGUMAR Imabari organizaron, por tercer año consecutivo, un evento en conmemoración del Día Internacional de la Mujer, bajo el lema “Accelerate Action”. La iniciativa tuvo como objetivo impulsar la igualdad de género en la industria marítima y reunió a más de 45 participantes, destacando los avances de las mujeres en un sector históricamente dominado por hombres.
El Cónsul General de Panamá en Kobe, Alejandro de León inauguró el evento con unas palabras de reconocimiento a las mujeres asistentes, quienes viajaron desde distintas regiones de Japón para participar en la celebración:
“Nos reunimos para rendir homenaje a las mujeres japonesas que han dejado una huella en la industria marítima. Hoy celebramos sus logros y valoramos su contribución; continúen liderando e inspirando. Su dedicación y esfuerzo han sido claves para el desarrollo de este sector. “, expresó el diplomático en su discurso.
Durante el almuerzo, se destacaron avances significativos en la industria, como la mejora en las licencias de maternidad y paternidad, contribuyendo a una mayor equidad laboral. Además, mujeres líderes compartieron sus experiencias y resaltaron la importancia de crear espacios para fortalecer las redes profesionales femeninas.
Como parte del evento, el Consulado de Panamá en Kobe rindió homenaje a Masumi Fujiwara, secretaria del Consulado, y a Kazue Izumi, responsable de Marina Mercante, por sus 45 años de servicio. Su determinación y compromiso han sido fundamentales para la gestión del Consulado y el servicio a la comunidad marítima.
Tanto el Consulado como SEGUMAR Imabari reafirmaron su compromiso con la promoción de un entorno laboral inclusivo, respaldados por la Organización Marítima Internacional (OMI). Las participantes expresaron su gratitud por esta iniciativa y manifestaron su deseo de que continúe creciendo, amplificando la voz de las mujeres en la industria marítima a nivel mundial.
For the third consecutive year, the Consulate General of Panama in Kobe and the SEGUMAR Imabari Technical Office organized an event commemorating International Women’s Day under the theme “Accelerate Action.” The initiative aimed to promote gender equality in the maritime industry, bringing together over 45 participants to highlight the progress women have made in a historically male-dominated sector.
Panama’s Consul General in Kobe, Alejandro de León, opened the event with heartfelt remarks honoring the women in attendance, many of whom traveled from various regions of Japan to take part in the celebration:
“We gather to pay tribute to the Japanese women who have left a lasting impact on the maritime industry. Today, we celebrate their achievements and value their contributions. Continue to lead and inspire. Your dedication and hard work have been instrumental in the development of this sector,” expressed the diplomat in his speech.
During the luncheon, notable advancements in the industry were highlighted, such as improvements in maternity and paternity leave policies, fostering greater workplace equity. Additionally, female leaders shared their experiences, emphasizing the importance of creating spaces to strengthen professional women’s networks.
As part of the event, the Consulate of Panama in Kobe honored Masumi Fujiwara, the Consulate’s secretary, and Kazue Izumi, head of the Merchant Marine division, for their 45 years of service. Their determination and commitment have been crucial to the Consulate’s operations and its service to the maritime community.
Both the Consulate and SEGUMAR Imabari reaffirmed their commitment to promoting an inclusive work environment, supported by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Participants expressed their gratitude for this initiative and voiced their hope for its continued growth, amplifying the voices of women in the global maritime industry.
