El buque petrolero de bandera panameña Nestos (IMO 9417464), desempeñó un papel fundamental en la operación de búsqueda y rescate de una embarcación en peligro, en coordinación con la Guardia Costera de Grecia.
De acuerdo con la comunicación del Designated Person Ashore (DPA, Persona Designada en Tierra), el Nestos respondió de manera inmediata al llamado de las autoridades griegas, demostrando una impecable disposición y compromiso en situaciones de emergencia.
Gracias a la eficaz actuación de la tripulación, se logró rescatar con éxito a 73 sobrevivientes, quienes recibieron atención integral a bordo, incluyendo asistencia médica, suministro de alimentos, agua y abrigo.
Para Panamá, la seguridad marítima sigue siendo una prioridad absoluta, en estricto cumplimiento con la Regla 33 del Capítulo V del Convenio SOLAS. Este acto reafirma el compromiso del Registro Panameño con la protección de la vida humana en el mar, respaldado por procedimientos eficientes y personal altamente capacitado para responder de manera rápida y eficaz en situaciones críticas.
